I used to teach in the inner city where I live (rochester, ny) and our city is primarily filled with black people. Poor black people. So I found it extremely ironic that to better our school system I was working in (it is really a failing school system) they got together a board of elite-white-suburbanites to come up with a plan to turn the schools around. What?? How are privileged white people who have never known any of the issues that the students in the population deal with, and have never set foot in the schools going to turn the schools around?? Totally whack.
